Been reading, searching and reading more. I think I have read about as many resto posts in a couple weeks as I have Firearms posts in the past few years.

Interesting stuff and some very detailed restorations here.

So without wasting internet toner my questions.

I bought this 1971 Schuster Tahiti that the previous owner redid the hull and deck so I would say the boat is about 80% and just needs the finish work done.

New interior, carpet, rub rail, motor painted and then on to the trailer.

Pulled the seats, bases and back trim panel and I figure on having some new parts made.

Pulled the carpet and noticed the areas where it was glued pulled some rubberized coating off with it....What is this coating and where can I get it.

Next when glueing the new carpet down what glue to use and where to apply it? I would think you would spread the glue the same as if appling to a floor and poll the carpet out.

The previous owner applied glue up under the side, laid the carpet out flat and glued the other side up under the deck. cener of the boat was just loose carpeting.

Any advice on hte glue and method as well as what kind of product to use the seal the floor the sides (Interior)

Thanks

I would use industrial self adhesive velcro to hold the carpet down. That way you can remove carpet for cleaning and deck repairs easier. As for the rubber coating, all the pros here will come up with the answer for you, maybe the rubber coating is not stock.

Rubberized coating? Sounds like a rubber backing on the carpet which would tell me it is not marine carpet. Anyway, flooring adhesive will glue it down.
