a hub will hold a LOT of pumps of grease if the person packing it left it on the low side

tommays

Even with Bearing Buddies water still enters the hubs and annual packing is the only way to remove it. Look into www.liqualube.com for a real maintenance free system. Change the oil each year in about 15 minutes and you're done. There is no better system.

With, or without Bearing Buddies,

I try to jack up one wheel at a time on the various traiers around the yard,

at least annually and even every couple of months on the ones used regularly,

and spin the wheel and listen.

A silent bearing with about an eight to a quarter inch of wheel play (at it's edge)is good too.

Any growling, too little, or too much play and I take it apart and find out why.

It's so much better than on a Sunday on the side of the freeway after the wheel melts the end of the spindle then heads out into the bushes or ditch somewhere.

By the way, as important as keeping grease in, it may require a double lip or even triple lip seal.

You might want to consider an RV, or trailer shop they should stock it all.
