Re: Newbie please help
Sorry I've been away with OT and Birthday obligations, lol. Now to catch up. Let's see??? The boat rental place on the bay is called Luna's I believe. They were still in business as of 4 years ago but I stopped renting for obvious reasons, lol. My battery is (actually let me check..is UB12180 Universal battery 12v 18 amp hours. Just checked online. Price has gone up a bit since I got it. Seems best price is $30 something... i remember getting it in the low to mid $20 range, but I could be mistaken. Was a good investment either way as I use it to run a lot of stuff. I use it to run things like stereo amp, fishfinder, air pump, water pump/ bilge, and electric start my outboard (did I mention it is electric start?). At one point it was electric start-remote from a key FOB but the starter relay kept burning out so I nixed the idea.. Cool beans on the dolly. I took some crude phone pics of the tool box but it is being disassembled and far from it's former glory but it should give you an idea. Will try to upload soon but phone is dead (and may need to retake pics since flash wouldn't work).
As for clean up, I initially considered one of the back pack garden sprayer thingies. Harbor freight has them at good prices from time to time and they hold 2 or 3 gallons of water AND spray under some pressure. Both pluses. I am technically off this Fri (but may have to do OT (same for Sat). I know Sun I am free. I am chomping at bit to get new boat christened. We need to set a day so we can both work towards getting there. Summer moves fast when you own a boat and have no time to sail her.:blue:
Ahhh, knew I forgot something... as for the beach to which the other poster referred, I believe you are referring to Plum Beach right off the belt. it has a separate on/ off "ramp". It is still there and has become a kite-boarders' mecca of sorts. They did a remodel within the last year or two, adding facilities and to my eyes at least, widening the beach. The only other place to which you could be referring is the "strip of sand" adjacent to Canarsie pier but I wouldn't consider it a beach and doubtful you would either. Plumb beach, as it's name would imply is really a little beach in the truest sense and is even moreso since the upgrade. It is nearer but not sure I would try to launch there because of the windsurf/ kiteboard traffic (can actually get pretty crazy!!!). Plus it's shallow and has some funky underwater terrain (I used to surfcast there before the kiteboarding craze).
