Newbie looking at 1979 16 Super Sport

Any advice on what to look for on this restored 1979??? It has a 2007 Evinrude 90.....

Welcome to the site Jazt, pretty nice looking SS. look real close for pressure treated ply, as it's is a real NoNo in an aluminum boat, ask the owner lots of questions about the the restore, how the wood was sealed, type of floatation foam used.

adding to what Glen said, I dropped these questions on another thread...questions that I'd ask a seller who restored the boat.

• What type of wood did you use on the deck and transom?
• Any ferrous fasteners?
• How did you seal the deck?
• How did you seal the transom?
• How did you laminate the transom?
• Leak checked? any leaks? if so, how were they addressed?
• How is the deck secured to the stringers & rib ends?
• Any corrosion? IF so, how was it addressed?
• Did you inspect for stress cracks? Find any? How were they addressed?
• Did you use any pop rivets below the waterline?
• What type of foam did you use...and how much?
• How did you prep for paint?
• What primer and topcoat were used?
• Trailer included? Condition of rollers, bunks, suspension?

Thanks for all the info!!! I just found out the current owner did not do the restoration.....dang it. What should I look for? I won't know all the answers = but what are the critical's?
