Hi all! Been reading a lot here and getting a lot of helpful info!

We traded a drum set (crazy!) for a 1966 Nomad 14' fiberglass boat with a 33 HP 1966
Johnson electric start motor.

I have not found another Nomad on line anywhere so I wonder if there are any more out there.
Ours came gutted so we bought a pair of back to back seats out of a Bayliner for $40
and looking to bring the motor back to life which I have found a lot of info here on this and I'm
glad for all the help!

We are thinking of trading some stuff for a 5HP kicker motor and I found a guy that has a mounting plate
for up to 10 HP kicker motor to mount to the back. He wants $75 for it. Is that
over-priced for a used mounting plate for a small motor? Seems like it but I'm not to up on these
things. Does anyone here have a used one collecting dust?

This is a great forum and I just wanted to say hello from one boating fan to another! :D

Re: Newbie here from Idaho!

welcome to iboats Diana.

If you know anyone that is familiar with boats it may be a good idea to have them look this one over.

Glass boats don't age well and '66 is pretty old so it would be good to know if the stringers and transom are in good shape, if they are bad enough this could even be a safaty issue and you wouldn;t want to put any money in a predead boat.

the stringers and trans could be bad and look fine from the outside, it is internal rot thst causes the problem.

It may be fine i would just like you to know for sure.

Hi there and welcome aboard.

It is a mazing how inexpensively one can put a boat together and have a basic rig to get out on the water.

Good luck with the motor, and be safe out there.

Thanks for the info and yes, we looked it over with our body/painter friend and it is solid.
Looking forward to hopefully getting her revived!
