it is either beautiful because the previous owner loved it (great news) or because it sat indoors broken. I hope the former. Seriously, read all you can, maintain that goofy outdrive, and you should be good to go. The engine is easy to find parts for.

To the original poster. hows the L drive treating you since you posted?

I had one for years, 1990 2070, second owner.. never once let me down on the water, never once let the original owner down. Don't buy into the hype others who never owned one try to put on them. They are not that different. Its just a force 120 outboard powerhead.. just maintain it and it will last as long as you take good care of it. The lower unit is a very common outboard lower as well, nothing special. The center pivot section is whats odd. As long as the bearings stay packed and your rubber is good you wont have any trouble. The u joint is grease zerked, so is the steering arm. spray the exhaust boot with silicon spray periodically so it wont dry out. change the impeller each year.

Keep the water out of it and keep it well greased and you will love it. I always ran 50:1 quiksilver in mine.

Add a primer bulb if you dont run it much, it will help when it sits.
