Hi Guys,

Im having a problem getting the local authorities to come and issue me my H.I.N so I can register the boat I spent 300 hours building this past winter. "Wrong Season" they tell me, "there out patroling the waters" ( as they should be ). No time for my H.I.N. Does anyone know what the a H.I.N., issued in NYS in 1984 looks like. Does it start with NY and go for 12 digits like this. "NY**********"

Thanks in advance
Jim

Re: New York State Hull Identification Number

I had the sherriff come out to my house and issue mine. If I recall correctly, it took about 4 weeks from when I sent in the paper work until they called. I offered to take it to the CG station and he told me no problem, he'd stop by my house. The issued number for mine is NYZXXXXGXXX where the x's are numbers. They are supposed to etch it in two locations - but the sheriff felt bad messing with my paint job, and told me to get an engraved plaque from a trophy shop, and screw it on. One on the transom, the other is way up under the front decking where it's hard to reach and harder to see.
