New Transom Need To Fill Holes In Outside Fiberglass Skin

I have the old transom out and will be replacing with two pieces of 3/4 plywood. The previous owner had everything but a cell-phone tower mounted to the back of the transom. Since the new transom will not have these holes what is the best way to fill them. Some are small screw holes holding the wires from the transducer, swim ladder and some are larger where a kicker plate was mounted. There are a few where a different outboard was mounted. The hull is fiberglass.

I've used West System with 403 filler to a peanut butter consistency. Some holes may require a bit of a "dishing" with a countersink to take care of spider cracks, etc. Make sure the area is clean and free of grease, etc.

I did not think of this before but when I install the new transom the resin will ooze out these holes because I plan to use enough resin to build another boat. If I tape these holes off then the resin will fill the holes and I guess I could sand them flush with the outside skin.

That'll work to, to a point. Expect to have to do some minor body fill when done to get a smooth finish. Those holes, when taped over, tend to gather bubbles...
