Ok guys, I was told to wait a bit longer to officially ask this question so I guess its time. In the next few months I will be purchasing a newer/bigger boat in which I will have to do the winterization process myself. The boat I currently have utilizes the closed cooling system, so as you can imagine winterizing is a whole new world compared to a sea water cooled motor. What all is involved in properly winterizing the motor?
Thanks guys
Oh yeah, the boat will be a Sundancer 268 with 454 in her.

As racetrack mentioned the adults section will provide a lot of info. Since the 268 is raw water cooled you will be draining the block, exhaust manifolds, large water pump circulating hose, power steering cooler and possibility hot water tank engine circulating lines.

I hope I'm missing something here but.... you will be buying a boat in the next few months that you will have to winterize? Is the boat still in the water now? If not, and it's on land with the temperatures you guys have been having you probably already have a cracked block. You'd be well advised to have a Certified Marine Surveyor go over the boat ESPECIALLY the engine to check for freeze damage. If you get me the year of the motor I can hook you up with a PDF service manual for it.

More than likely, it's sitting in a wet slip...so yes, he would have to pull and winterize immediately. The OP better have all of the potable water lines in the cabin blown out with air during the winterization process, because if the current owner is keeping the cabin heat on while slipped, the water lines are probably still in use.

Well guys the boat is currently winterized and shrink wrapped so im hoping that everything is cool with it. I just asked this question in preparation of next years winterization process is all. I will be purchasing it from a reputable marina in my area, skipper buds.
