Just bought a 2003 6 hp 2 stroke ser#0t654xxx. Don't know the history of this motor but the price was right ($100). It starts easy and runs ok, I think it may need idle speed adjusted ......I have the seloc manual. I had planned the following: new plugs, clean and check carb, adjust idle, adjust timing, replace gear case lube, check seals .
Did I miss anything?
Here are my questions ; after reading some people say not to mess with the timing ,should I do it? If so where can I obtain a yacht that will work on this motor?
Any other preventative maintenance I should preform?

Any input will be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance, Scott

Welcome. I wouldn't mess with the timing unless you need to. Your list looks pretty good. I'd make sure to hit all the grease points too.

Update:
Found a timing light with a tach built in (hated to buy one knowing I wont use it often).
Took the carb off and did a good "clean and inspect" all looked good. New plugs, new fuel filter, set idle speed, set timing, new gear lube and grease pivot points ,new exhaust gasket(which was bad and how I got such a good deal)
This puppy runs like a top. Best running 2 stroke motor I have ever seen
