new to me engine.

im going to look at a new/ used engine this weekend its a 90 hp honda longshaft for my pontoon.. just wondering what are some things i should look for or ask for/ about. i never bought a used engine before. i could use some advice

You want a compression test done in front of you. You want see any records of tune ups and impellor mait.. Ask what is was on and why it is off now. Ask for the orig. manual. ANd most of all ask to hear it run to make sure there is no clicking or clunking.

Ask if it was on a pontoon before. The prop for a toon is different. Also ask if the controls are included. These can set you back some coin if you have to purchase separately.
