Hi all I am new to iboats and new to the i/o boating community. I bought a 20 ft Four Winns deck boat with the 4.3l. I am setting up it for fishing over the winter. I have decided to go with a 101 lb thrust minn kota. I have plenty of room to add 3 batteries. I did some looking at other set ups and ideas and want some input on what i am thinking. My idea is to run an installed 36v charger like the Stealth etc off of an inverter that is wired through and accesory switch off a 20 amp fuse. So when i am running it will charge the 36v off the alt but keep the systems separate. I was just looking at getting an inverter like truckers us and install it next to the onboard charger.

Please give me some feedback.

It'll work, but you need to make sure the inverter has the juice to power the charger. Match the input amperage and convert to wattage if it's not listed in watts.. 36v charger probably needs quite a bit.

A way I would do it, is to use the engines alternator. use a battery switch and put a lead coming out of the battery switch, and split that into 3 leads to go to the trolling batteries. Only thing you would need to do then is remove the cables connecting the batteries togther, and you would need 3 grounds too of course. The other lead from the switch would go to your main battery. Not a perfect solution, but it will charge the batteries for the price of a $50 switch
