New to boating...need help!

Hello, I just aquired a 1982 bass boat with a 1987 Mercury Black Max XR2 outboard. The previous owner lost the keys and now I am stuck with a boat and no key... My question is where can I find a wiring diagram for the key switch in the Quicksilver control so I can wire in a new swtich? I need to know which wires go where and do what...

Your local merc dealer probably has a selection of keys. See if you can borrow them to find the right one then order a set of spares. Lot easier than wiring in a new switch and cheaper.

As AndyL said, see if you can borrow keys from a dealer first. If they don't have them, then I would pick up a service manual and look at the wiring diagram.
