Just completed my annual throw parts at the problem event. Have had an unsolvable WOT poor performance after first stop problem for about 5 years. Problem was that 3 shops have looked at it and never replicated the problem that only happened in the water after the first stop.
I have just replaced the timer base and stator (did look a little rough). These are the last new things I can throw at it.
I am unsure about the complexity of setting timing- sincing/linking etc. Bottom line is that it now idles briefly then dies. Tried warm-up lever and it runs but a little rough. Idled and ran at warm up fine until I replaced theparts. Have confirmed spark on all 4 by connecting timing light. I am seeking some straight forward next steps (including taking to someone who knows what they are doing). I have a manual but I am having trouble replicating the steps. Thanks.

Did any of 3 shops measure compression?

With the following test, you will not be able to shut down the gnine via the ignition switch.

Temorarily remove the black/yellow wire from the powerpack. Test run the engine. If the problem now ceases to be, replace the ignition switch.
