WOW a whole Tahoe section. My father and I both have Tahoes. Mine is an 01 Q7 with a 350 chevy Mercruiser(which had a factory defect on the headgasket, so it is getting repowered this weekend) and his is a 215(I think) deck boat with a 4.3l Mercruiser. His is absolutely horrible on rough water, and especially bad in large wakes. Its also grossly underpowered.

I love mine. It is a far cry from my 93 Chapparrel, but not bad for what I paid for it.

Anyway, just found the Tahoe forums and wanted to introduce myself. We do not see many Tahoes out on the water, so we have to stick together.

I think with some trim tabs his will be acceptable. From what I am reading it looks like they help a lot. We plan to buy him a set for Father's Day. Probably get 2 sets, one for each of us.

Welcome aboard and you will not be disappointed with the smart tabs. They sell factory blemishes on this site for $99. You might want to give the Nauticus folks a phone call first to see if they have any recommendations. They really are very helpful. These tabs made me a very happy Tahoe owner with the increased fuel economy and major difference in handling.

Picked up a set for Dad for Father's Day. I am going to help him install them if I ever get my boat running again.

I've purchased a 2010 Q7sf with 5.0 mercruiser fuel injected. Question: what xactly does the smart tabs do? what is it's purpose? First time owner of a boat so not noligable. Please explain the whole purpose and function.

Sorry this is so old, but for some reason I stopped getting email notifications.

It seems that on a lot of Tahoe boats, there is an issue of too small an engine, so the tabs get it up on plane faster. You should be fine on this one. The other issue is idleing. During idle driving, they seem to wander back and forth, and the tabs help it track straighter. Mine does this.

My Father's boat is 21ft or so, with a 4.3 V6. It takes forever to get on plane, and at idle it wanders pretty bad too. So, if we ever get them installed, they will help that a lot, I hope.

Welcome aboard to the tahoe forum. I`ve got the 06 Q6fs with 5.0 . I joined this forum 2 years ago and have learned a wealth of knowledge here. I`m sure you will too. I installed a set of smart tabs on my boat, and am also thoroughly satisfied with the performance of them. They will stabilize your boat, especially in rougher water and will decrease your planing time substancially! Again, welcome aboard.:)
