Just wanted to intro myself to the group. I purchased a 2010 Tahoe Q5 SF last week. We used it all weekend on a pretty rough lake in Louisiana, and didn't have any issues. So far, aside from the rear seat popping up while driving, I am very happy with the purchase. I got the 4.3 Mercruiser 190 hp with carb, and power doesn't seem to be an issue.

I looked at a lot of boats before going with the Tahoe. Although I would readily agree that a Tahoe is not a class leader by any stretch, I am satisfied with what I paid for it. Similar type "luxury" boats were nearly 20 grand more, and aside from finishings, I didn't see much difference.....

That being said, I am all of the negative Tahoe reviews have given me pause, but hopefully, we have many more trouble free weekends from the boat as we did this past labor day weekend!

Re: New Tahoe Boat Owner

Just posted this thread, and upon reading some posts about Tahoe boats, I've noticed much written about Smart Tabs. Are these something that an owner can install or should I look to my dealer to get those put on my boat? I am somewhat mechanically inclined and have owned boats in the past, but my previous boats were smaller flat bottoms with outboards! This is my first stern drive boat so in many ways feel like a newbie!!!!

They are an easy install and will definitely give improved performance.

Welcome to the site. I have had my Tahoe for about 2 months and love everything about it. Only issue is with the snap on carpet. It appears that the smartabs are easy to put on. I do not use them on my boat, it planes out fast and the wake is perfect. It does wander around when I go just above idle speed, but tap the throttle and it holds straight, still under no wake speed. Hope you enjoy the boat.

Welcome. I have been happy with my Q7 for a few years now. No out of the ordinary issues. Myself and my father both decided that a boat that costs far less than a Bayliner, but as you mentioned, I didnt see much differance other than creature comforts when you look at, lets say, a Sea Ray, at nearly 35k more.
