I haven't actually seen a battery ignition myself, but as I understand it, the notable difference is the two battery leads coming out from the mag plate. They were pretty common pre 1930. The one thing though, weightwise, it was much better to get the magneto versions, versus the battery igntion also, when your battery went dead, you were stuck rowing back.
