Re: New Smyrna Florida boating advice

There is plenty of water on the south side, any time of year. My boat is a 37' (40 LOA) and I draw 44" of water. I go to the island at high tide, low tide, or anything in between.

Just follow the ICW in from the west side of the island and pull to the beach. Check the attached pic. This is the route I take in from Daytona and I back into the island where the yellow circle is. I've been there every Saturday throughout the summer and never had a problem with water depth. I stay approx 30' from shore and my aft is in 5' at low tide and the bow is in 12'+. There is quite a drop off there and that little alcove fits me perfectly...so don't steal my spot!!

We park in the exact same place but we come from the North Causeway ramp and just come in from the East. It's just a little 20ft so it doesn't have any trouble on that side. Funny we were just a couple boats away from you that one time, but since I knew you were going, we haven't been there at the same time.

We will be there next Saturday (the 16th). After that, we are taking the boat back around through Jax and down the St. Johns, back to our home marina on Lake Monroe.

I hope everyone will come out and introduce themselves prior to us leaving...kind of a farewell to the end of summer island trip.

We'll have a grill set up, maybe a volleyball net. Passing a football back and forth and our big azz raft! Music, cold brew...should be fun!

Hope to see everyone there!

St Louis, Now Dallas, next week DC, then Miami. Get back the 24th. Just trying to figure out why you aren't going anymore. Not like it gets cold around there. I go to Lake Monro Harbor to use the ramp over there. We are just on the other side in Deltona. I'll wave at your boat.

We normally berth on C dock at Monroe Harbor Marina. We bring the boat around for the summer months (around May) and take it back at the end of October.

We still do weekend trips, but they stay on the St. Johns River, usually between Blue Springs and Lk. Beresford.

If you see the boat and we're not on it, leave a note. We'll get together. Always looking for boating friends.
