After swearing off boats "for the foreseeable future" and taking up kayaking(which I ended up powering with a trolling motor, my mini boat) I came across a deal I couldn't pass up...this was two weeks ago on Tuesday.

I came across this lien sale Tracker Magna + 115 OMC + trailer and ended up getting it for 1,300 "as is". The boat was stored for approx. 3 years, but it did appear to be prepped for storage prior to. The boat is originally from Oklahoma and was never registered here in CA, 180.00 later and everything is titled. The last owner must have been a duck hunter as he rattle can cammo'd the whole boat, that coat is chalking now and ready to come off.

I brought her home, checked the fluids in the outboard and hooked up an external tank. I did a cold compression check which yielded 90PSI in 3/4 cylinders and one @ 40PSI...I was bummed. I figured what the hell, I'll give it a shot and fired it up. It started right away and ran butter smooth, the idle was a little high, but otherwise it was good to go. I did a another warm compression check and got 100-110 in ALL cylinders, SWEET! Lower end fluid is crystal clear, I'm going to change out the water pump as it's only pissing at around 10psi @ 3-4k RPM. Other than that, the carb could use some new gaskets I'm sure.

Next I checked the transom...solid as a rock.

The deck had a 2'x2' section of rot, otherwise it's rock solid. Until I get a sea trial in I just laid a piece of 3/4" ply from the CC back...once I get a run in I will take that off and do it right.

The boat sat uncovered the whole time so it was full of water to the deck, which I didn't mind seeing as I now know it doesn't leak! haha

Electrical is in working condition, no issues to report there.

For $1,300.00 I'm pretty happy, today I'll be hitting the exterior with some Interlux 1 part poly...as long as the weather stays nice.

First coat is on...this is my first attempt at painting a boat, kind of a pain rolling and tipping by myself. I may employ the wife for roller duty on the other side. :)

Very cool Tracker. Are you keeping it as a center console? It would be a killer Tiller :)

Re: New project: Tracker Magna 19' CC

She's off to the shop for a water pump. When I get her back I have a few small details to attend too like the bait pump & bilge pump wiring and replace a hatch door latch and we should be ready for a sea trial.

The only problem I have that I can't get back to factory condition is the dang bow light, rats chewed the wire behind the side panel and I can't get the wires to budge to fish a new set. The only other option(for doing it right) is to pull the panel off, but that requires removing a few other panels and that's a lot of freaking work for a bow light. I've decided to just borrow one of my kayak 12v lead acid battery boxes and I'll just manually connect the light to power until I figure something else out...haha, ghetto.

Re: New project: Tracker Magna 19' CC

Splashed her today, knock on wood everything was 100%! She ran like a champ, although i only had a couple gallons of fuel so I went a quarter mile or so each way, and about 40 minutes running on and off tied off(there was no traffic). The hull kept dry, no problems there.

The next thing I need to do is put some fuel in the original tank and replace the sending unit. I was able to see in the 8"(approx) deep tank and it was dry, just some light oil residue/stain. I'm hoping I don't find a crack when I fuel up...

Opened her up on the back bay today, little or no chop...

I was able to get to 45(waiting on Lowrance HDS5 for GPS reading) with some throttle left to go, she's pretty damned fast!

Got some goodies in...

Lowrance HDS5 Gen2
Horizon Explorer 1600
35.00 Autozone stereo...hey, it has an aux input and runs my two 4" console speakers just fine. hahaha, it can even play "cassettes" whatever those are. ;)
I also added a 12v socket so I can charge phones, etc.

By the way(update) the original fuel tank is fine...no leaks and holds somewhere between 25-30 gallons. The tank reaches from the transom all the way up under the console, it's about 8" deep. New hoses, clamps and sending unit and we are feeding fuel no problemo.

Re: New project: Tracker Magna 19' CC

Had her out with the GPS, 39.7 in a light breeze in the back of the bay...I ran out of runway(coming down a channel) before I could trim up and get a little more speed out of her. I know I can easily hit 40+ on a flat day. I had 25G of fuel on board myself@250lbs and one other passenger about the same weight, plus all our fishing gear, etc.

Ok, got into some nitty gritty since my half-assed deck patch was starting to deteriorate I figured I was do a 3/4 assed job this time around.

the rest of the deck forward is solid as a rock without a single bit of rot I can perceive from up top and it's fishing season so I didn't want to wait!

swept/vacuumed up with aluminum angle reinforcements for the new piece of decking

Close up of the angle aluminum. I notched both sides and then drove the tab(beveled the edge way down first) under the existing deck over the top of the aluminum stringer. I 2-part epoxied the heck out of the exposed wood to seal it up.

Fiberglassed the new piece of cabinet grade oak.

Now that the floor is all good(for a few more years anyways) I can turn my attention to some holes I just discovered the last trip out...first I thought it was just one that was leaking but upon inspection from underneath I noticed a half-dozen soft spots that I could drive my pic through. One obviously had water still trapped above it! LOL

Kinda scratching my head as to how I want to proceed. The holes are small enough that I might just 5200 a tri-fold rivet+aluminum washer in each one and call it a day.
