Re: New Project, 88 SFM 160

So I call the factory thinking this was a slam-dunk. Well not so, they just don?t give out such material.
But?. I was connected to a gentleman, which I can?t recall his name at the moment but have it written down at the office. He was kind enough to proceed to tell me how it was done and save me a TON of reassemble time. He was also kind enough to provide his direct line in case I had further questions.. I thought that was kind of cool.

Thanks?.

That had to be Steve, one of their engineers who has assisted my needs also.

That direct phone # is very valuable.........????

I found a material today that I think I would like to use instead of wood, it?s kind of pricey and was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions.

Re: New Project, 88 SFM 160

Well, after checking prices on the COOSA BLUEWATER 26 SERIES COMPOSITE BOARD

Holly Cow.. They are proud of that stuff.. 1.5? 4x8 sheet anywhere from $400 to $600 a sheet, .5 ? sheet is $150 to $225. Man what that stuff made out of ?!?!

So I guess I?ll just get some ply and roll some resin on and maybe something else to see if I can?t make this thing last a few years.

Going to have a chance to work on the thing next week, we?ll see how it goes?

Seems like most of the guys are running in the 75 range for that boat. If you like going really fast, 90 would foot the bill.

Edit: Hey, ah, is something wrong with the Yamaha that was bolted to it? Sorry if I missed what the issue is.

Re: New Project, 88 SFM 160

Thank-ya,
It has a 30 now, i must admit i haven't had it on the water yet but 30 seemed a bit small to my fat self..

I see it's rated at 90 but haven't see to many. Have my eyes open for something..

Thanks again...

Edit: No don't think so, but can't say for sure, it started and i changed the oil in the foot. i was going to put int in the water after the transom repair just to see if it will float and move around. Still thinking i'm going to keep looking to see if something comes up...

The IDEAL motor for a 16' Starcraft would be one of those 3 cylinder Yamaha 90's. Followed closely behind by the 3 cylinder JohnyRudes. Excellent power-to-weight ratios. The 90HP V4s are a little heavy for them but still not bad at all.

I just droped off the gas tank at the local Stealer, a there was one getting worked on, you are dead on about the size, not much larger that the 70's..
Never know what will show up.. Thanks

Well i had not planned on it but as I said earlier. The Transom needed to be replaced.
Well I able to finish that up this afternoon, also have been kind of working on the floor while I was waiting on the resin to cure on the transom.

Well the rain finally let up enough to get the floor laid down.

If the rain will hold up for just a bit I?ll work on getting the console and liver well installed before the vacation is over.

Looks great. I love my vinyl deck. It's really tough and very non-slip.
