If DonS were still alive he would put this in BIG RED letters

Do not dredge up old posts relating to your problem, start your own so it does not get closed

I must not have good old posts. No one dredges one up and I never get an email telling me to come quick...

Its about 85% newbies and 15% members with about 150 posts over 3-5 years

For me a guaranteed close starts off with "I know this is old, but" or something similar. Sometime I just delete those to put the thread back to sleep.

I try to move newbie posts, but sometime there is so little info that it's impossible to make up a title or know where to put it.

This software includes the ability to set up archive posts, you set the number of days, months or years that you want it to remain active, then it switches it to archive mode and it can no longer be posted to, but can still be read. I have it installed and all of my various systems will archive posts after 6 months so that no new posts are allow, but people can still gather information.

Making that active, saves a lot of work for the moderation team and it still allows those with questions to read through the subject and then start their own thread if they still need more information.

I have been a member for a long time and to this day, do not understand why the owners make it so hard on themselves instead of using the features that are built into the basic rendition of this software?

With the VB5 versions? We had a similar feature before the switch from VB4.

Can the Thread be Semi Closed, to still allow the OP to reopen it?

Semi closed?

If any OP ever returns to the gorum and asks any Mod, a topic can be reopened.

Personally only reopened maybe 6 topics after closing hundreds (thousands?) so the 90day rule is a fairly good time frame for inactivity resulting in closure

I simply flag my closed posts if I need them opened for a problem.
