Hi,

Is it necessary to use surfacing wax on a surface you are going to paint? Or will the paint coat over the 'tackiness' left behind?

Thanks

Wax or no wax, you will need to sand the surface to get a good bond, wax just makes the sanding easier. Most paints won't cross link with the tacky surface of the resin, so after a while the paint will start to come off if it's not sanded and cleaned to remove it.

Skip the painting and invest the money in a nice long weekend white water rafting trip with your bestest buds . Think: white gas + campfire =

When are you planning on painting..I would love to check out the progress in person when it is good for you. Gimme a call.

-JMW
