Perfomance I believe has a 10+1 and 12+1..... Same with the Shield Plus.... I just hope the trigger pull is just as good as the guy in the vid said. He also said, S&W knocked it out of the park with the Performance. I'll be the judge of that.... lol. If I don't like the Performance, I'll have to start all over. Maybe look at Glocks..

Yeah, the Max 9. 3 of us thought the trigger pull was not good. For the guy who said it was the best must not have pulled many triggers.lol I pulled and pulled and thought, fire already.... We all shot low. Just like vid said, the barrel would drop as the trigger was squeezed. That's why they make different guns. We all have different opinions....

Did you notice if it shot better after putting a bunch of rounds thru it, thus loosening it up?
Yeah, we all have different size / shape hands and levels of experience. Personally, I have never preferred striker fired pistols, but I'm getting used to them. They sure aren't a Smith N-frame equipped with the 3 T's.

Truthfully, I did not perceive a change as I shot more rounds. I was pleased with the first mag full and kept feeding it mag after mag until 4 boxes were gone. Operationally it shot flawlessly every time.

I did have a padded rest and a chair next to the firing line, so for those shots I'm quite sure the barrel didn't drop.

You always have to be leery of every review you read - like what was the guy's motivation?, did the Manufacturer supply the gun? I can't dispute the trigger comments and malfunctions reported by the guy in your video, but some of his other comments are off base, such as the appearance of the slide finish.

... I am a S&W aficionado ...
See: that's really funny. I know S&W is a good firearm. They've been around a long time, and I really like their revolvers. But I have never fired a S&W semi that I really liked (and I've shot quite a few). My Taurus is nothin' special, but I can hit with it. I really like H&K, Springfield and Kimber for competitive accuracy. But for personal carry, they're kinda' too much.

The right gun is the one that feels right, carries right and you can accomplish the defensive mission with.

I've been reading this thread all along. Interesting read y'all.

My collective tastes go toward pre-numbered, pinned and recessed Smith revolvers. But I figure ya need to have a few semis as well. The best pistol I ever owned (and still do) is a 1973 vintage Smith model 39-2....double action hammer fired. In the 40 years I've owned it there have been only 2 or 3 malfunctions.

I got rid of a Kimber 1911 because it was a jam-o-matic.

If you want honest reviews on most everything, look up Kickok45 on U-tube.

Well, this would be my 1st striker fire pistol I've fired. Unless my Ruger Mark ll Government Target semi .22 is considered a striker. If it doesn't have a hammer it's a striker? I have 3 Ruger revolvers single action. So pretty much new to the semis except for my Mark ll, which has a phenomenal trigger pull. Short take up and a short, smooth like butter firing...

Here's a review by a guy that I've heard good things about, his top 5 different minis. His carry fell at #3...... He has 700k followers...... I found it interesting, appears to be honest..... Afterall, he's the Honest Outlaw.....

I have a Mark III. It was one of my competitive guns, and my favorite gun to shoot. Every time I feel bad about my groupings, I pull that thing out and boost my ego back up.

I went to the guys site, hickok45 Jim had a typo, and watched the Shield Plus review. He was getting it out there with some shots. I have a smaller hand than his, it fits me good. Very solid.. I like his reviews, lots of shooting!

He even reviewed the one I'm looking at, the Performance Center version. Except I want the 4" barrel, should increase accuracy, and with Optics added to what he shot.... Seemed to shoot it better...

All the Marks are hammer fired pistols. The hammer is concealed. It is commonly accepted that the Mark II is the best of the lot.

I used a mark I in Bullseye matched for eons, until I saved enough $ and upgraded to a S&W Model 41. MY score went up about 20 points. That's the only gun I ever regretted selling.

This guy seems to be able to shoot anything. You can tell he's fired thousands and thousands of rounds to be as proficient as he is, he likes to work the slides alot too.
@ezbtr started this thread looking for an mp. Did you pick something up ez????

My head hurts. Just when I think I know what I want, these dealers show me other options. Happened at 2 shops.😱 I was able to handle the Shield Plus Performance Center. I like it. Nice trigger. Lightweight, slender a nice gun.

Then they broke out a bunch more that got me thinking.....again..😳

I looked at an H&K VP9. Nice gun. A different class than a shield. Real close to the same length, but a longer grip. Holds 17rds. The grip seemed a little too wide. Should fit perfect with a guy with big hands, like hickok45. Nice trigger, glow in the dark front site. A little on the heavy side, 25ozs I believe. They talk about adjusting the grip. Will this option slim it out if I want, please explain..Thx.

Ergonomic, adjustable grip– Every detail, including the grip angle, the contour of the front strap and the high rear saddle were chosen to fit the human hand. And the adaptable grip frame allows you to interchange both backstraps and grip panels in 27 unique configurations to fit your hand. All of these features help you get the same consistent grip, every time you pick up your VP.

I haven't tried their newer guns out, but the H&K's are typically nice shooting. The grip isn't so much adjustable as it is "modular" (so to speak) ...

Thanks Kogs. Interesting. Hopefully the one I looked at had the large panels...

Anymore opinions on the HK would be appreciated...

I used to carry an HK P2000SK in 357 Sig. What a powerhouse that little gun was! Never hiccuped or had any malfunctions of any kind. I fed a variety of brands and types of ammo through it without a single malfunction. I like HK for sure. (y)

Here's the follow-up range report on the Max 9 on my home range where I can vary the distance. Shoots to POA at 5 yards. As previously reported, shoots ~11" low at 25 yards. Accuracy not to bad for a CC pistol. After 300 rounds still not a malfunction.

10 yards, 20 shots, 2-hand hold, Lyman 124 grain RNTL boolits made with Lyman #2 alloy, 3.8 grains Bullseye, red spot on yesterday's newspaper.

I plan to install a reflex sight to be able to dial it in better.

Did you by any chance chorography that load? I'd be interested in seeing the velocity with Bullseye powder. Bullseye is a very fast burning powder and it doesn't take deviation from any set load to really increase chamber pressures. I usually use Bullseye for 38 plinking rounds since you can load a ton of ammo using Bullseye, for little powder cost...
