I'm new to this site and also a new owner of a 2012 SunCatcher LV208. I am interested in learning about suggestions for a usdrer's group specific to that craft if there is one. I'm an experienced boater, but not pontoons.

My boat has had little use for a boat that's 10+ years old. It has a Yamaha F70LA engine that is in excellent condition as are most of the other components of the boat. There are, however, two items that I am struggling with. First, is the speedometer. I have tested it by blowing air into the tube at the engine end and the speedometer does respons slightly. I am confused about the proper attachment locations of the tubes on and around the engine and engine compartment. They were cut or otherwise became detached from the engine and it appears that one services the two livewells on the boat. I have looked a bit for a drawing and/or diagrams as to the attachment of these. The second (unrelated issue is the absence of a gauge to observe the tilt and trim elevatation. I've not had a previous boat in many years that didn't come with such a device and this boat, more than any I've had, it is critical since one can' can't see the engine from the engine from the pilot seat.

Thanks for any help with any of the above.

Continuation of tilt and trim matter... sorry.
Is there a source of information as to the best choice of a device to install on my Yamaha and directions for doing so?

welcome. both your issue sound more engine related, I'd suggest asking in the Yamaha section.

Often when removing the foot of the motor to replace the water pump the plastic nipple for the speedometer is broken, or the tube that attaches to it. If that small tubing is being used by the baitwells, I would certainly plug those lines off. That seems very strange to me. You should be able to follow that tubing all the way down into the lower section of the motor and see it going into the foot of the motor. When you're in the water and moving, I would disconnect that hose at a connection somewhere and see if water is coming out of the hose. If it is, that will eliminate the possibility of the broken plastic connection in the foot of the motor. As far at the tilt/trim gauge, all of my boats that had Yamaha motors had the digital gauges that included a tilt gauge on the side of the gauge that has the tachometer. The gauge itself is pretty inexpensive on Amazon ($20), if your motor has the sending unit. I've attached a picture of the basic sending unit. It's over $100 on Amazon if your motor didn't come with one.

Thanks for all of that. Much appreciated.
