I recently purchased a 2000 Tahoe Q3 Fish & Ski. We've had it out for 2 test drives, and I've taken it out 3 more times after and so far everything is working perfectly. It fires right up everytime and I couldn't be happier.

I'm a first time boat owner so go easy on me. I have a few questions:

1. There are two seats that sit on either side of the bench at the back. These can be pulled out and sit on a pole to use as fishing seats. I cannot for the life of me figure out how these seats come out of the back and the previous owner said he never used them like that so he doesn't know either. I've looked for a release tab, pushed, pulled, folded you name it and I can't get them to come up. The seats can be folded forward (to access the engine compartment) and I'm guessing this is part of the trick to pulling them up?

2. inside the engine bay, there is room for another battery. I purchased another battery and installed it, and I was able to get my trolling motor hooked up and working. The wires are red & black obviously, and then there's one extra wire that attaches to the red terminal.

What is that extra wire on the red terminal for?

Will using the trolling motor only deplete my extra battery?

Is the extra battery recharged by the engine running or do I have to take it out and recharge it some other way? (i've only used the battery for 1 day of fishing so it's working so far)

3. Is there anywhere I can go to find an owners manual for the boat that will tell me things like how to remove the seats, general operations type things, etc? I checked the Tahoe website and did not find anything helpful.

4. If given a choice between 100% pure but 87 octane or 90% gas 10% ethenol but 91 premium, which would you chose?

5. The boat seems to have a hard time planning prior to about 18 to 20 mph. Will a 4 blade prop alleviet most of this problem or will I likely have to do the trim tabs as well?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Just give the seat a quick jerk and they should come out . The extra wire is probably for the live well if equiped. Is there a livewell switch on the dash , hook up the wire then test the switch. The pump should be on the transom below the aft right side of motor with the water pickup to the outside transom.:):)

I would stay away from any gas with ethenol in any seasonal motors such as boat motors even lawn motors . Ethenol is a distilled fuel meaning it has water in it which is a corrosive factor. Even in 100% fuel I would use fuel stabilizer . Read up on ethenol fuel and it will tell you that even in cars you LOSE 25% in fuel mileage because of the ethenol in fuel

I gave the seats a quick jerk, but I'll be a little more forcefull this time and see if I can get them to come out.

Yes there is a livewell. However, it was working before I installed the new battery so I believe it feeds off the primary battery.

Congratulations on your new boat! I just recently bought a 2005 Q6 and I was also looking for an owners manual. I went to the tracker dealer and he told me they don't make manuals for their boats but can get the Mercruiser manual for your engine maintenance. He then spent the next half hour answering questions and showing me features that related to my boat.
Try a dealership, if they are any kind of decent they will answer most your questions. You might even try taking your boat there and letting them walk around it with you.

Mine does too, and it is a little rough trying to maneuver it as slow speeds. There are a couple of posts on here about trim tabs that people are swearing by to help with slow speed steering and getting your boat on plane quicker.
