hey guys, just thought i would show off new old project :) lol

It needs a bit of work interior wise, but the boat is ready for the water. I've been looking for something along this line for quite a while now because my 14 foot fiberglass boat is just too small for fishing with my dog and girlfriend on it. I have never owned or even been inside a tri hull before so im curious to see how she rides. I got a good price on it so i have enough left over to have the interior re done in the next week or two so i cant wait to see how its going to turn out.

Anyways, heres some pics of her. let me know what you think and maybe throw some color ideas out there if you want.. i have no idea if im going to just restore the interior back to orange or go with something fifferent yet.

oh, and the floor seam to be a vynal floor.. can i just repaint over it or lay carpet on top of it? or do i have to try and peel it up?

Nice color. Looks like the only fixing is cosmetic. I never saw a trailer like that before.

thanks, Im leaning towards keeping everything the same color.
I thought the same thing about the trailer when i went to pick it up yesterday. its a home made trailer and i noticed it was adjustable to fit a boat thats bigger. I had a 2 and half hour drive home so i gave it a good look over before buying it and I was very suprised how nice it towed the boat.

Looks like a worthwhile project to me and that 70 is a fantastic motor. I bet the exterior will shine up quite nicely.

Re: New old boat to fix up.

The floor and transom are very solid for its age considering im pretty sure its never been re done. Everyhting looks to be original from 76. The guy i got it from was great and let me drill a few small holes and look around. I really didnt want to have to re do the floor like i did last winter with my other boat. I just wanted something that needed cosmetic work and Im very happy with it :)

He got the motor last june from a marine shope in his area.. its an 83 70 horse. compression was great and he gave me the paperwork for it because i think its under warrenty until June hits. Never had an experience with a motor like this but it should be a nice step up from my 62 johnson thats on my other boat.

I have already started to tear the interior out and I am dropping it off this weekend to get re done. I am going to do the sleeper seats in a two tone orange and white and i am going to re vinyl the floor with a darker gray color. In my mind its going to look good lol

Anyone have any tips for the new floor? can I just clean up the old floor and and go over top? or am i best off trying to peel up as much of the old crap as i can?

Congrats that is a cherry find of a Tri Hull it look pretty good. How much $$$$ 4 it? . I have owned 3 tri hulls in the past and they are great stable boats from side to side when stopped, however when you are running in any kind of chop I HIGHLY suggest that you slow down as they will beat you to death in the waves. The girlfriend will love to stop and sun but I promise you will enjoy the view on the ride home. If it is gel coat on the original floor like my last one was I think you can just go over top, if it is carpet it has to come up.

Re: New old boat to fix up.

Thanks for the advice Sig. I have heard this about Tri Hulls but im just looking to get a lot of fishing in and dont really need to get anywhere in a hurry. I am just itching to get it out and see how it rides. I ended up paying the guy $900 cash for the boat motor and trailer. I had to drive a few hours to north ontario, but it was well worth the drive. The ad online had no pics posted with it so i think I was the only one to come by to see it and make him an offer on it.

I Dont think the floor is Gelcoat and its not carpet.. i think its a vinyl floor. I Think if i were to sand a few of the bad area down to smooth i can just re vinyl right on top of it. I guess there is only one way to find out lol

Thanks again

Re: New old boat to fix up.

Just finished getting her up and ready for the summer and thought I would share some pics. I found a guy online that ended up building seats for us using a nice orange and white combo at a very reasonable price. It took us quite a while to find a place to order the orange vinyl from but in the end I am really happy with the results.

We ended up just putting a regular carpeting down for the flooring and sanded down the consoles and painted them black. other than that there wasn't much that we had to do and she looks pretty good now for its age.

all we have to do is shine the outside a little better and it should be quite a head turner :)

thanks for reading and let me know what you all think!
