New nuts for lower unit required? 1999 3.0 volvo penta

Serviced the u-joints and gimble. Do the nuts that hold the lower unit on need to be replaced. Are they one time use only? They do have plastic in them

No there not 1 time use.....
But they are not 20 time use either.

If you can screw them on with your fingers, yes, replace them. But if you need to use a wrench, they are fine.

I saw the same thing in the manual for my 96 4.3 Mercruiser. I brought my shopping list to the parts counter and the Merc tech said they could be reused several times.
