Congrats on finding and fixing the problem. That stream looks like an 18 year old. Next time lube the shaft and pump housing and impellor with dish soap and a little water. Yes the water is suppose to shoot from the hole in front.

I ordered an impeller yesterday and received it today. It's not a Yamaha. It was tough to slide onto the drive shaft and tough to get into the pump housing, but I got er done. This is what it looks like now. Is that spit supposed to be coming out the front?

OK - funny story. I was so proud of myself for replacing the impeller and getting water circulating again. I put the boat in the water just now and it won't go into gear. I was off the trailer and floating. I put it in reverse and it wouldn't back up. I put it in forward and it wouldn't go back onto the trailer. I had to get out and pull it onto the trailer with a rope. Now it's back home. Is it possible to put the lower unit on the motor and not get the drive shaft into the correct place??? I can't imagine what else is going on.
