Wholly crap. My spell checker missed that. Even with my old 2-stroke oil burners running at 16:1 I never got that low.

I'd be curious as to the prop you are using on the 6. Those motors from 1966 through 1979 can use the same props (1965 6 & the earlier 5½ used a different prop due to the new slip-hub) and with the long run they enjoyed they offered a larger diameter lower pitch version that would be good for powering a sloop or for an emergency motor for something big. It would allow for adequate rpms to get the most out of that motor (and not lug and overheat it).
