Hello, In the spring I purchased a new Mercury 9.9 from Bass Pro. During my purchase I was told that when the motor was pulled from storage it had be transported and stored on the wrong side. The dealer told me that it shouldn?t be a problem. After running the motor 3-4 times I had to pull it almost 30 or so times to get it started. Then by the 6th it wouldn?t start at all. I took the motor to my authorized Mercury dealer and they said the carb and jets were full of gunk and gum. They had to clean them out costing me $111 and they say the warranty doesn?t cover it because it?s the fuel and they said I must have put dirty fuel in the tank. I put about 3 gallons of fuel straight from the pump into the new tank the first day I ran it and by the 6th time I ran the motor there was about a gallon still left in the tank. Is it possible during the few amounts of time I ran the motor that it could have caused this? On a brand new motor! or would the improper shipment off the motor have caused that much gunk to build up in the carb? If this is not my fault I need somewhere I can find more information about this so I can either get my money back or get a new motor.
