First I want to apologize if I am posting in the wrong forum..I am new. lol Anyway I decided to join, because finally after 36 years I am buying my first boat. Its not new, but its mine. I am mechanically inclined, but these are totally different animals. I have looked around for boating forums the last month or so, and this looks like the best site. I hope to learn about all aspects of boating, and hope to become a valuable member here. Thanks for listening. MichaelTJ

Its a 1969 Larson. 16ft tri hull with an 85 hp Johnson. Everything is original, nothing has been refurbed. The boat is in awsome condition. It was a one owner boat, and this guy really took care of his boat. he said its always been garaged, and by the condition of it, i believe him. I cant belive the condition of this boat for a 1969. If is wasnt because the interior looks dated you would think this boat is a few years old. Although I have not had it out yet; the engine fires right up and idles well. I cant wait to be a boater. corny isnt it?

I am in the process of selling my home in NY. The closing will be the Monday after turkey day. Then i am moving to summerville sc.

That's good news. Johnson V-4 motors are basically bulletproof and if maintained last forever.

Questions you need to ask...... lst impellar change?
Has the shift mechanism ever failed since that yr it was probably electric and parts are tough (big money and rare)

Don't worry that some may think "it's old and kinda small." The previous owner bought it and took care of it. You bought it and, if you take care of it, someone else will buy it as well. It's a stepping stone.

Find one person on this forum that bought their first 14-16 foot boat and that was perfect for them and the family forever! It's called "2 foot-itis." You'll suffer from it soon enough (I give him 18 months before srticken).

Have fun with it! Take a boating safety course and have a mechanic friend go over the maintenance items with you.

Well... unless it's called 3-foot-itis :)

Welcome to the forum! Have fun and be safe. Have you taken a boater education class yet? I highly recommend those given by US Power Squadrons.
