new macgregor 25 owner

has a real crumby rudder can i install those slick double's like on the new mac's ?? ...i'm on "the island" manitoulin island..any help / advise wud be great this rudder weights about 80 lbs.....& hits the bottom where i park...

Can you post a picture? On Macgregors, they use double rudders when there is a large outboard on the transom center. But a single larger rudder is more efficient. I would stick with the original design if possible.

You may want to see if Ida Rudders makes a replacement for that boat - on the Hunter owner forums they get good reviews.
