I have a new 25hp Johnson. I have run the motor asper the owners manual. First tank of double oil, had a lot of fuel leaking from engine case. Dealer said run the engine on the rich mixture not a problem. That can happen with new motors? Lots of fuel leaking, got mad brought the boat in checked it out said the gasket behind the fuel bowl was not seated right. They fixed that. Ran very good no leaks. Came time to switch over to normal running fuel and oil. The engine will not idle and I have to keep throttle open 1/3 to stop the engine from completly dieing out. Brought the boat back. Dealer said the carberator float was badly bent up and installed incorrectly from the manufactor? Can any of these problems effect short or long term engine life? I am new to boating and have little knowledge of engines. Any input on this would be very much appreaciated.

After 10 hrs. switched to normal running fuel.

Neither problem you stated are detrimental to the internals, but I would still be concerened about it,as this engine had obviously been thrown-together(proly the last one on the line on Friday).
But being assembled on a line, the same moron that mounted/adjusted the carb, ois not the same highly-skilled/dedicated upstandin young man/woman who placed the pistons and rob bearings....Let us pray ....
