I just bought a "new" boat, a '65 Jet.... and surprisingly for me, got it on the water the same afternoon! :D It was just about completely redone by the previous owner, and has a running 33 hp Evinrude on the stern. Only thing that needs attention over the winter is a new piece of wood for the transom! Pictures below for your approval. I, of course, was glancing through the SC ads stickied on the top of this forum, and noticed that in '64 there was both a Jet and a Jet Star, but could not read the differences between them and the picture shown looked like they were the same. Whats the difference?

Re: New Jet

That is a nice looking rig man! Congrats on the great find!

My understanding is that the seating is the only real difference between the Jet and Jet Star.

So, does that make you a two boat man for the moment?:D

Re: New Jet

Jas- yes, I am a two boat man! I sold my Chief the night before I bought this Jet, but I still have my donor boat with the Mercruiser I/O that I was going to put in the Chief. Could not resist such a nice little boat, totally redone, for $900- particularly since I could use it the same day! The 33 hp Evinrude got it up to 16-18 mph by GPS, mostly at 16 but did get it to 18 once- perhaps some wind or something. Anyways, not exactly as fast as I was hoping for but I did not play around with the tilt which may have been in the wrong position. Does anyone have a speed data on their Jet's?

This was at WOT I think, I'm guessing that my tilt angle was wrong, since it seems that I was not really up on a plane? I guess its a good excuse to get out on the water and fiddle with it! :D

Got that right JAS. And once the originals are gone it becomes almost impossible to tell which it was. I thought you could tell by the bracket placement but Lakelover's boat proved that wrong.
