complete water pump kit, guys i'm stumped. still running hot, and getting not water, ran hose up water tube when lower was off. 71 50hp 50712 i know the new temp sender and old horn works.

Probably need to pull the power head and check the watertube and grommet at the top and check the base gasket.

dropped lower, impeller vanes are dust, housing has gotten hot enough to start to melt. did not run dry. rotated driveshaft in correct direction after installation and everything was smooth. these were brand new OEM products.

Is this the same motor that ate the other impellor? If so then something is preventing water from getting to the pump.

yep it's the same one. i check that yesterday and again this evening. Tomorrow, i'm going to attach a hose to the water tube and see if i can get water thru the engine.

I'd be surprised if you don't find a blockage in the block. Not much water can get in the pump if it hasn't any place to go. Curious as to what you find.

Tasha, are you running it on muffs or in a barrel? I'd try it in a barrel with the water level well above the pump level. That should at least keep it from eating the impellor.

This is from way out in left field, but the inner exhaust tube wouldn't happen to be missing from that motor would it?

Is the mosel number 50172?

The impeller is running dry. What is the grey material clogging the water outlet?

TD, was this a known problem with the motor when you got it? Hang in there, I know you can whip it!

exeke, that is melted impeller, connect muffs to lower this morning, and put old housing on and get water running freely, of course with out and impeller, seeing i don't have one right now. when it gets shady where the motor is i will connect a water source to the water pipe.
