New here and hoping to get some info.Have a 1976 Mercruiser that the tilt/trim is not working.Took off cleaned ,sanded did all I had read to try brushes look good and good connections everywhere.Motor works fine seems pump is not working.When trying to go up or down it will cut on and then motor starts smoking so pump I think is not pushing fluid through.Flushed out fluid and refilled and nothing.Is there anything else I can do? Can't seem to find a pump for my late model and I can't read any of the #s on it to know exact model or anything.It is all metal no plastic resevoir.Can I put newer type of pump with plastic resevoir on it ?If so what will work? Any suggestions is muchly appreciated so we can get out on water before summer is over.
