Bought a 62' Starcraft this past week. She's 14'3" x 64", and came with a 63' 40hp Johnson and bimini top. The 81 year old gent I bought her from was the original owner. I'm hoping to pick up some expertise from some of the seasoned folks here to steer me in the right direction restoring my boat. Thanks, Jerry

Have some photos but haven't figured out how to post them yet. I'm on an Android so the site comes up different for me. Will have some posted as soon as I see how. Thanks for the welcome! I will check out those links.

Thanks for the replies fellas. I posted some photos on photobucket but not sure of the url. I copied it, but it won't let me paste here. The album is under JKPowers1 if you would like to take a look. Thanks again!

Couldn't make the link work for me...but here is what you can do...
Now that your pics are uploaded into Photobucket, click on whatever image you want to post...it will appear full size, to the right of it there will be a set of choices...left click on the tag that says IMG and it will briefly turn yellow and say "Copied"...return here to your post reply, left click in your reply where you want the image to appear and choose "Paste"...a code will appear...go down to the bottom of the reply box and click on "Preview Post" or "Go Advanced"...that will show you what your post looks like with the picture inserted...

Thanks jbcurt00! You are a lifesaver! For a $1,000 I feel like I got a good deal. I'm not looking to make her pristine, just very presentable and fished often.

Yep, looks great for $1K. Motor runs?

Johnson OB push button F-N-R?

I suspect the OB is a 1962, the long chine that rises up to the bow, which is then missing a 'typical' diamond plate along the bow keel.

More likely a late 50's, a Ski Champ maybe:

Doesn't really matter, besides it's legally whatever the title/registration list it as, but I do think it's a SkiChamp from the late 50's.

It has 3 bench seats, remote steering (added by a previous owner {PO} at the middle bench) & a covered bow.... Never seen 1 setup like that....

Bimini looks good too.

Enjoy, get some pix of it underway!

Re: New here from Indiana

Hmm. All I was told was he bought it new in 62' and it had a 35 horse on it which he ran for a year, then in 63' he bought the 40 that's still on it. You turn the key, and she fires right up. Had no idea what the proper name for it was. Just knew I liked what I saw. He was asking $1250 for it, but sold it for the grand. Didn't really tell me that much about it other than she rode good, and that he thought I'd be very happy with her. Thanks for all the info. I had no idea.

If go to photobucket and do a search for "62 Starcraft", the whole album comes up.

Model 14' Marlin, Serial 62-14136
From the transom plate.
Have added an ad to the photobucket album
that is my boat. I don't have a doubt about it now.
The outboard is an RDS 25D which was purchased new
in 63', but is a 62' Johnson 40.
Take a look and see if you don't agree.
