hey all.....hope ya might be able to help me out....I been looking at some of the post and thought i might ask here....ok.here is the deal...i am looking at a boat with twin 1989 175 rudes (vro)...compression is within spec on all 12 cyls.....i have seen some posts where they have removed the VRO and pre-mixed theie fuel......dont know how easy it is to do with 195gals of gas....but anything i should look out for from these motors??......hope ya can help and thanks in advance

Pretty easy to disable the injection but personally I'd rather have it. Especially with that big of a tank.

Those motors are basically the same as the slightly older (flywheel rated) 235's. To be honest, old technology - fairly reliable - thirsty. If I were buying a boat I really liked I'd have to buy it as if there were no motors. That way once I used it and found out it really fit the bill I could put different motors on it without breaking the bank.

thanks for the replies.....i was thinking even if i get 3 or 4 seasons out of these and can repower then and pick-up another set of twin 2 strokes since everyone is going with the 4 strokes now.....i know i cant put 4 strokes on this rig because of the weight issue and would cause it to sit to low at the transome....plus being an older boat i dont think the transome could handle the weight.........thanks again
