Hi all,

I have always wanted a Starcraft SS 160, I they are the perfect boat for me. I have read this forum alot looking at pics of all your lovely boats, and now I have finally found mine!!!

It was sitting on the road with a for sale sign on it, and it's the model I always wanted so I brought it home!
I plan on doing a full restore to it so I'll likely be spending a lot more time on here and look forward to learning more.

And since I know how you all like pics... here ya go!

:welcome: to the iboats dry dock tin division!

Sweet looking SS that's very worthy of restoring. See she's got some muscle too with that V4 90 Johnny. :thumb:

Nice! Pics of the Tin in the first post. You'll do just fine. So, what are your plans for her?

Welcome and good luck.

Thanks for all the welcomes!! Plans are to first get it running well.
Its been sitting for 3 years so I will change the impeller and rebuild the carbs, check fuel system and give er a whirl.
Then its on the water this year and hope it doesn't leak!
Everything is in pretty decent condition, so I should be good to go.
Floor is solid, seats are wet and weak though... easy enough fix.
Future plan is a complete rebuild from hull up.

Since the motor has been sitting for a few years. Be sure to oil fog the cylinders well and let it sit with the fogging oil in there while you do the other work. Then I would turn it over with out the plug wires while spraying some in the carb throats to lube up the bearings before firing it up.

:welcome: That's a nice looking SS. Plenty of potential, and I'm a little biased as my 82 has proven to be a great investment. Make sure you clean the fuel system really well. Replace all the hoses, and the fuel pump. Trust me you will drive yourself mad trying to get an old fuel system working properly. There is almost always plenty of old nastiness floating around in the tank, and lines to make all your hard work seem futile.. Good luck and have fun..

Welcome and congrats on the new boat. Half the battle is finding one you want and if the price is right. She is a good looking rig and good luck with her.

well, I found a pair of carbs at a wrecking yard, took them home for $200. Took them apart, sprayed them with carb cleaner, blew them with the compressor and put new gaskets on. Now they're on the motor and it started just fine. Idles very high though, like 2000 rpm!
I shut it down, had supper and when I went back out to it, Starts, idles around 1500-1000 rpm then dies. I squeeze the bulb and hit the primer on the key and it fires right up again... until it dies and I repeat the procedure... Will keep you posted.

Unless they're different than yours, I would have just got one carb and replaced the one bowl. Use the wrecking yard one as a parts carb.

I had a problem getting a bunch of work done on my Chief that I had planned. Just the opposite though my weather was so nice 80 - 85 and calm wind. This caused me to hook up my Sea Nymph at 0600 and hit the water. Now I'm all smiles and a bit crispy around the edges.
Sorry man...
