New Garmin 93 sv wire directly to battery?

I am getting ready to install this garmin in my Sportcraft 241. I have a brand new spool of the red/black 14 gauge wire laying around. Should I connect right to the batter instead of going to the fuse block? When I connect to the new transducer to the old one to pull it thru I thought it might be a good idea to tape the wire on and run it on up there too. I have the heat shrink connectors so it should be a good connection? What say you boys?

Your idea of pulling a wire with the transducer cable is good.
Even if you don't use it now you might in the future?
