I need to replace the rotted floor on my 16' alum boat.
The original plywood floor had the carpet glued on it & wrapped around the edges, then the whole thing was screwed to the alum. stringers.
Would it be better to do it like it was originally done or put the floor down first then glue down carpet?
If the plywd. goes down first, I could seal the tops of screws to keep out the water.
This might not be that much of an issue since I now keep the boat covered.
If the carpet isn't wrapped around the edges, does it tend to come up or fray?
Just wondering how other people have done it.

Re: New deck

By rolling the carpet around the plywood,it cuts down on the vibration from the flooring. You can do it anyway you want, use treated plywood. It will last longer.

Re: New deck

It just occured to me that by putting the floor down first I can remove the carpet later without removing the plywood.
I like your idea of leaving a little gap & stuffing the carpet behind it.
Thanks
