Im new here so I dont know how to show the thread I wanted to ask you guys about but it was titled deck placement and was posted on nov 6th by beerrun.

Beerrun was replacing a deck and asked the question can I place the deck on the lip on my hull. Before the deck was below the lip.

Tashasdaddy replied that he could but he needed to leave 1/8 to 1/4 of space so as not to make a hard joint. Then fill the space.

Im interested in this thread because looking at the picture I have a similiar situation. My question is if you build the deck on the lip would you still glass the top of the lip and underside of the deck? The 2x4 supports underneath that run across the stringers, do you run them all the way to the hull on each side?

same thing the sides (gunnels) have to have a little flex to them, if not you get a hard joint, and possible cracking of the glass.

Thanks for the reply Tashasdaddy I was hoping you were out there.

To make sure I understand you - the 2x4 running across the stringers do not touch the hull. Do I leave space between the plywood deck and hull also?

Space Between New Deck And Hull?

Space Between New Deck And Hull?

When you build a new deck is the plwood supposed to contact the hull or is there supposed to be space between and then run cloth and mat to join the two?

yes, they don't touch the side, and then use a mixture of resin and cabasol, or chopped up fibers, to make a paste filler.
