I have a 1994 seapro with a mercruiser 3.0 my control box is hard to shift and it's sloppy which is causing problems with my shifting into reverse I have replaced all the cables and the only thing left is the control box can I replace my control box with 883709A01 I know this doesn't have a trim button but it's available at a steal can I then add a trim button our is it not worth the trouble.. also if this 1 won't work what will work

Thanks in advance

You can add a separate trim button, however, it will likely need to be mounted on the dashboard. It is inconvenient, as you need three hands: one to steer, one to control speed and one to trim, while accelerating.

I would expect you could get a new control with built in trim button relatively inexpensively, as your motor is really popular, been around a long time, and there are lots of aftermarket controls, both used and new.
