for me, it would be a toss-up when buying for the lady.
for my ex wife, a Pinto with help over a cliff......
for my GF - a VW Jetta sportwagen with a TDI - cant argue with an average of 45mpg and a really smooth ride. or if you drive in snow, an Audi A3 or A4 Avant with a second set of wheels with ice and snow tires mounted.
The reason I mention the wagons, you can get 5 people and a whole bunch of shopping bags.... or two people, two dogs, two suit cases..... or you can haul two cylinder heads, an intake, 2 boxes of parts from Summit Racing, two tool boxes, a suit case, a saw, two drills, box of fiberglass supplies and a bunch of ACX
