Trying to make a long story short. Been restoring a 1972 20' Fiber-Craft. Needs new canvas. I have a heavy duty sewing machine that will sew 4 layers of sunbrella. Bought a few years ago to restitch some canvas for another boat. They wanted $500 to restitch so I bought the machine for $300 taught myself to sew and did it myself. Still have the machine. I also have a 1/2 roll of sunbrella fabric I bought at an auction for $15.
My question is that since I'm not a capable sewer can I put the canvas together with that hot glue tape and an iron and still be able to sew through that stuff without mucking up the needle all the time?
I want to do that since I'm sure I'll make a lot of mistakes and if ironed together I could heat it up and adjust it.
I do have the old canvas to use as a sort of pattern but I also want to make a few changes. Like, making it higher by 6" so I can under the aft part while trolling in the rain. I want to make side curtains out of isin, ising, eisining (that plastic stuff you can see through to.
Thanks
