First the Good: I just finalized what I think is a good deal on a 1989 Invader v210 cuddy cabin powered by 5.7L Bravo 2 combo with 220 original hours on it (I know this is a weird combo for this type of boat but this is how it was ordered) Anybody have a Bravo 1 to trade for a low hour Bravo 2 . As I mentioned in other post on the forums the boat has been very well kept never left open to the environments and trailered all it life. All in all very clean solid boat. PO owner says it tops out around 50 MPH? We will see.
Now the bad: One of the metal line back on the Power Steering ram is completely rusted through and while the engine is running PS fluid leaks badly (btw the engine runs great and had good compression on all 8). Will a mopar 360 fit in its place  just kidding. I have already determined the PS ram will need to be removed which does not look to bad I think . So here is my questions do I remove the ram and just replace the lines or replace the whole unit? (watching a couple on ebay) and will any MC PS Alpha/Bravo... ram fit? My research tells me they are the same for Alpha or Bravo but I know one of the experts here knows for sure? Which ever decision I make are there any other seals that should be replace while the RAM is on the bench? On last question there seems to be a newer style ram that does not have the tubes that corroded away. In this new style ram a direct replacement/upgrade or do other parts need to be changed or not compatible? I am sure I will have more questions in the coming weeks once I dive in to this?
My wife and I feel this boat will be a fun project and look forward many years of enjoyment. If I can get this PS leak taken care of in the next few weeks I might be able to get it out for a pre-winterize shakedown. Thanks in advance for the any advice.
Mike
PS Now anybody want a Stingray 18 ft bow rider 3.0l Alpha gen II, put in water, turn key and go. I don't feel like winterizing 2 boats .
Jasoutside has 2 boats one for small fishing and one for the big lake. I need one for skiing in the Navasink or shark river and the other for cruising Banagat bay and the Atlantic ocean.
