We have 2015 Merc 4Stroke 65Jet outboard. Have cable running to shift/trim/throttle and analog tach on console. Would like to add SmartCraft System Monitor [79-879896-k21] and need SC cable [12 ft or more] to hook up to the (unused) SC plug on the engine; have read that we need the 20' 84-879982T20 with the 2 terminating resistors. We like the analog tach and want to keep it but add analog/SC hour meter, and separate [i.e. visible] engine temp. and oil pressure gauges. Questions: (1) can we use both the existing analog cable and tach AND the smartcraft harness? (2) are the sensors already in place for oil pressure and engine temp if we use SmartCraft for that? I assume we would need to put in sensors to use analog gauges. (3) If we add oil and temp gauges, will we need a junction box at the console and any extra terminating resistors? Different cabling/harnesses? Better to not mix SC and analog -- i.e. go to SC Tach? Not an experienced wrencher or boater, our dealer is 500+ miles away by plane, the parts/service department folks I talked with on phone there were so confused about smartcraft and gauges as to be scary. Any help or advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.
