I have a 2001, Merc 90HP outbaord with the Merc throtle controls. This past weekend the buttom you push to allow you to give the engine gas while keeping it in Neutral stuck and I had no fwd or reverse. I had this happen a couple of times now and cannot seem to find the problem. I have taken the control all apart and made sure everything was greased and working smooth, but it still seems to happen on rare occasion and usually at the wrong times. Anyone see this or have advise on how to fix without replacing the whole thing?

One thing you do not want to give your outboard gas "hi RPM" you want it to go in gear at a low RPM . If you need to give it gas to keep it idleing your outboard is not running normal and you need to ture it up so it will idle at a low RPM a 1000 or lower
