Need your help again, 1980's Johnson 85 !!

Hey guys, I need your help again..I have a Johnson 85 H.P., Model # 85ML78C,it has another # J4955328...Could someone tell me what year it is and if they know where I could find a used or rebuilt tilt/trim motor??.... Thank you very much....Jimi Harper

the year on johnsons are stated in the model number so if you come across this again you will know.

Err well from 1969 to 1979 the Hp and year form part of the model number. From 1980 both Johnsons and Evinrudes follow the use of the word INTRODUCES in using date letters. Prior to 1978 if there is any logic to the model numbering system it escapes me!

true!!!i have a book that will tell me about the john/rude motors info from 80 and up all i need is the numbers.
