I put a new ignition switch in I switched from the 5 pin to the 6 pin with the push to choke and think I may have got some wires switched around when I turn it before starting my gauge comes on and goes straight to full but when try to start it nothing but when I push in the choke does work the wires were so badly falling apart and the coloring was off so I think I got two wires switched around if you tell me what letter from the 5 pin goes to the 6 pin that would be great

Gee, if you give us the year and HP of the motor we can give your the wiring colors. The older motors (70's) used a grey wire for choke. Newer motors use a yellow/black wire for choke.

Remember, originally the choke circuit had no power when the ign switch was off. In the older MerControls, the power wire fed the choke button. In your new ign switch, the choke button would be internally powered.

It sounds like you've got the wires correct. It's time to check for other problems. When you go to start is there power on the S terminal? Is that power getting through the neutral switch? Is it getting to the yellow wire at the starter solenoid?
We need answers:confused:

If you jump the red wire to the yellow at the key switch, it should crank. You can also hook the two yellows together from the neutral switch and hit the key.

Agreed, it sounds like you have the ign switch wired, Turn and hold the key and rock the throttle handle to "exercise" the neutral start switch. When she cranks, the neutral switch is closed.

I'm glad that you got it sorted out, but the mag pins wouldn't have caused the problem.
